In this context, the EcoTone is between the old way of working, and the new powerful ways that online technology allows. Harnessing the most valuable resource that your company has, your people, is what online community is all about.

It’s been my privilege to work with several far sighted companies to build valuable, vital, profitable online communities in their organizations. As of this writing, there are over twenty thousand people connected in the various communities that I manage.

For the company, the benefits are enormous. Smart people exist all throughout the organization, but it is sometimes difficult to hear them in the noise of daily business. Online communities allow every employee to make a contribution in their own time, and for the company to harvest these valuable ideas when the time is right.
